April seems to bring with it the usual around here. Warm sunshine, singing birds and new clients with bikes in need of help.
This week there were 2 new clients to help out. One fairly easy and one not so much. The Norco hybrid was in rough shape as far as corrosion goes. The primary problem was a BB that was worn out and needed to be replaced. However what would have been a normal transfer of new for old turned into one of those situations that required some considerable troubleshooting and creative thinking.
It's in such situations where I recal how it might have been done way back in the days of my working at McBride Cycle. You know, before iPads and hybrid suv's.
It came down to me designing and fabricating a tool strong enough to remove the bottom bracket. On the plus side, I now have that tool to use in the future. A win-win situation for all involved and the client is thrilled to have her Norco back on the road.
